Natural Carpal Tunnel Treatment with Chiropractic

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ natural carpal tunnel treatmentClinica Real sees a lot of people struggling with carpal tunnel syndrome in our busy Phoenix, Mesa, AZ chiropractic office. While some people think that the origin of this wrist-related pain is muscular, it's actually a syndrome that arises from the nerves--and not just the nerves in your hands.

Research Supports Chiropractic Helps With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

A recent study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy evaluated 71 women between the ages of 35 and 59 who were diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. Upon investigating the subjects' neck range of motion, the authors discovered that the women had less cervical flexibility when compared to a healthy control group.

In addition, they also observed that the level of the women's reported carpal tunnel pain was related to the lateral flexion of the cervical spine. In short, the less flexibility in the neck area, the greater the level of pain.

This research is extremely important, as you cannot successfully address a problem until you fully understand its cause. By understanding that the root of carpal tunnel pain is in the neck, this means that all-natural approaches such as chiropractic can often restore normal function, reducing the need for risky surgical procedures.

If you have carpal tunnel pain, call our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office and ask how Clinica Real can help you get relief!

Chiropractic and Medical Care: An Effective Combination

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ back pain treatmentWe see many patients with back pain in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office, and Clinica Real has been able to help many of them get relief with chiropractic. However, dealing with back problems doesn't necessarily mean having to make a choice between chiropractic care and medical treatment, as many people use both types of care with great success.

Study Confirms Chiropractic and Medical Care Work Well with One Another

In a study published by the medical journal Spine investigators1 looked at a group of active-duty military personnel between the ages of 18 and 35 who claimed both acute pain and limited function due to back pain. Some of the test subjects engaged in treatment via standard medical therapy, while the rest were given chiropractic care along with regular medical care, as the authors wanted to determine which group fared better.

The authors found that the group that received standard medical care in combination with chiropractic care scored "significantly better" than the group that received medical care alone; 73 percent reported positive benefits compared to just 17 percent of the medical treatment only group who indicated the same amount of improvement. This was true regarding both pain and level of function at two and four weeks.

Thus, incorporating these two forms of treatment can greatly benefit you--the patient--offering advantages when compared to medical care alone. However, while chiropractic and medical approaches can work together, chiropractic offers some distinct strengths over medical treatment.

Where Chiropractic Care Pulls Ahead

Although it may seem as if each method plays a 50/50 role, there is one significant benefit that chiropractic has over medical care and that is in patient satisfaction. In fact, a piece of research done at UCLA2 that was published in the American Journal of Public Health found that, on average, chiropractic patients are generally more satisfied with their recovery than people undergoing medical treatment.

According to the experts, the main factors that patients liked over medical treatment were "self-care advice and explanation of treatment." This isn't unexpected, as chiropractors commonly spend much more time advising their patients as to how they can improve their health on their own, as well as outlining more carefully what to expect from chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Care Is a Natural Approach to Wellness

Certainly, the techniques associated with chiropractic are quite different than those available with medical therapy, but a great deal of the difference is the fact that chiropractic is a holistic approach to health and well-being. In contrast to focusing on simply relieving the symptoms, chiropractic care involves finding the root cause of your pain, which often translates to greater improvement as you are tackling the problem at its source.

Furthermore, while medication is sometimes helpful for managing certain conditions, many health issues respond well to a natural approach such as chiropractic care. This means fewer negative side effects from drugs and more permanent results.

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ Chiropractic Auto Injury Treatment

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ auto injury recovery and treatment by Clinica RealEach year, there are millions of auto accidents in the world, and a significant number of people end up getting injured in a collision. Although most accidents are "minor," chronic spine pain are still common health issues. The good news is that chiropractic care is a great way to address these kinds of injuries.

We've treated many auto accident patients in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office, and Clinica Real has been treating people with these types of problems since 1986. During a car accident, your body is subjected to powerful forces that it simply wasn't built to deal with. These forces put stress and strain on your neck, shoulder, and back, and can result in damage to the ligaments that hold your spine together. A collision can trigger a wide variety of pain problems.

A ligament tear in the neck can result in pain, swelling, and radicular symptoms in the arm and hand. Chiropractic works well for these types of problems, because chiropractic focuses on restoring the healthy function and flexibility of the injured tissues.

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ TMJ Pain and Auto Injury

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ TMJ Treatment by Clinica RealJaw pain is a fairly typical problem reported by people after a car wreck, and it can be confusing for some doctors to identify the source of the problem. Complicating the issue, many times you won't develop TMJ pain until many weeks or months after a crash.

Clinica Real has helped many individuals with jaw pain after an injury, and the scientific research explains what produces these types of problems. During a crash, the tissues in your neck are commonly stretched or torn, causing ligament, muscle, or nerve damage. This can obviously cause pain in the neck and back, but since your central nervous system is one functioning unit, inflammation of the nerves can cause issues in other parts of your body.

For instance, with radicular pain, irritation of a nerve can cause tingling or pins and needles in the arm and hand. Similarly, it can affect parts of your body above the injured tissues, like your head and jaw. Headaches after a collision are very common because of neck injury, and the jaw works the same way. Clinica Real sees this very frequently in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office.

Research Proves Chiropractic Lessens TMJ Pain After an Auto Injury

Research indicates that the source of many jaw or TMJ symptoms begins in the neck and that treatment of the underlying neck injury can resolve the secondary headaches or jaw symptoms. The secret to dealing with these symptoms is simple: Clinica Real will work to return your spine back to health, relieving the inflammation, treating the injured tissues, and eliminating the irritation to the nerves in your spine.

Clinica Real finds that jaw and headache symptoms often resolve once we return your spine to its healthy condition.

Phoenix, Mesa, AZ Neck Pain and Car Accidents

If you have neck pain after a car accident, you're not alone. Clinica Real sees this type of problem frequently in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office. The key to recovering from neck pain caused by a crash is to understand the root cause of the problem and how chiropractic care can help.

Your neck is subjected to very high forces during a collision, so it's not surprising that neck pain is so common from this type of injury. During even a low speed crash, your head is subjected to extremely rapid acceleration. In such crashes, a head that normally weighs about 10 pounds can instantly weigh eight times as much. This force exerts a severe strain on the tissues of the neck. The bones of your spine are held together with strong bands of tissue called ligaments, and these ligaments provide stability for your neck. These ligaments can be sprained during a collision, just as the ligaments in your ankle can be sprained. A sprain means that the ligament is stretched or torn.

When you experience a sprained ligament, the injured area become inflamed and tender, and that's what occurs after a car crash. Your chiropractor helps by increasing mobility in the injured area, which helps the tissues heal and helps decrease scar tissue.

Clinica Real is here in Phoenix, Mesa, AZ to help you recover from neck pain. We've been helping patients since 1986 and we can probably help you, too. First, we'll do a careful assessment to establish the root cause of your problem, and then decide how to restore your body's natural functioning. Ready to make an appointment? Headache and Car Crashes

We manage many car accident cases in in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office, and a common symptom we see in our patients is headache. What causes headache after an auto injury? How can chiropractic care help?

There are many different types of headache. Headache that's triggered by an auto collision, though, typically starts as tension or strain in the muscles of the neck. In a crash, the neck muscles can be torn, which results in inflammation and discomfort. These types of headache can be felt in different places, including the back of the head or even the forehead.

Another common cause of headache after a crash that we see in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office is cervicogenic headache, or headaches that originate in injured ligaments of the neck. Ligament injury is quite common after a crash, and it's important to get care for this type of problem to prevent the development of scar tissue.

Chiropractic is an excellent way to treat headaches, including those triggered by auto injuries. Your chiropractor will help reduce the irritation and strain in your neck, which will help alleviate the headache pain.

Clinica Real has been helping patients in Phoenix, Mesa, AZ since 1986, so we know what you're living with. We're here to help you, too. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Auto Injury

If you are suffering from thoracic outlet syndrome after an auto collision, you're not alone. Clinica Real sees this type of condition frequently in our Phoenix, Mesa, AZ office. Why is thoracic outlet syndrome such a common problem after an auto injury? How can your chiropractor help you recover?

The thoracic outlet is a bundle of nerves and blood vessels that pass through your neck and shoulder to your arm. These nerves and blood vessels don't have a lot of space, so they pass under and through the strong bands of muscles that support your head.

In a crash, these muscles can be stretched and strained. If injured, the muscles become inflamed and tender, and they can develop scar tissue which restricts movement and puts pressure on the tissues of the thoracic outlet. Pressure on the nerves can cause tingling or numbness in the shoulder, elbow and even the hand. Pressure on the blood vessels can also cause problems in the arm.
